First trip out for the new acting Education Officer

Since taking up my post less than two weeks ago, I’ve been busy arranging visits across the Guild – watch this space as I hope to be in a tower near you soon!

I kicked off my tour last night, with a trip to the Eastern District and was welcomed at St Dominic. St Dominic and Calstock have joined forces in their training of new recruits, and I was pleased to see several of them making fantastic progress last night. St Dominic have a dumb bell installed which is always well utilised in the learning process – an invaluable tool. I was lucky enough to be able to go above and see the dumb bell installation as well as the bells themselves. A wonderfully well cared for ring indeed.

The practice was a perfect example of what I love most about teaching – it was full of fun and laughter! Everyone – students and more advanced ringers, coming together and enjoying ourselves. Perfect.

I have come away from the evening with lots of new ideas for teaching, plenty of thoughts about dumb bells, and excited to meet many more faces in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions, thoughts, or requests for me as the new education officer, please do get in touch. Perhaps there’s a specific education day topic you would like to see covered? Or perhaps assistance on your practice night? Do please let me know, there’s no request too big or too small.
