Alan Regin talks Rolls of Honour with particular reference to Cornwall

21st February 2021 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for a fascinating talk by Alan Regin about Rolls of Honour with particular reference to Cornwall.

Alan has been, since the age of 10, a very keen and active ringer, learning to ring at Ottershaw, Surrey, and now, for over 40 years, living in London. He has rung 6,129 peals, over 500 of these in the United States of America! The Rolls of Honour are three hand written books that remember ringers that fell during the Great War (2 Books) and WWII (1 Book), they are normally kept at St Pauls Cathedral, London, and further details are available on-line via the Central Council website. As Steward of the Rolls of Honour the job is looking after the books but it has always been Alan’s aim that we should properly remember ringers that died during these conflicts and prevent them from being “a list of names”, hence the considerable research that has taken place. This talk explains more about the books, the research and the ringers themselves. It also touches on the work of the Commonwealth War Graves commission and links to the Ypres Memorial Bells project.

This talk will be recorded, if you wish to watch and listen live, but do NOT wish to become part of the recording, please select STOP VIDEO and MUTE.
