It has been reported by various media outlets that the Truro Diocesan Guild of Ringers “had to give permission” for the bells of South Hill Parish Church to be hung “dead” for chiming instead of for full-circle ringing. The TDGR wish to make clear that this is entirely erroneous; the Guild has NO REMIT to give or withhold permission for bell restoration work at any church, and was not involved in either in the funding or decision-making process for the recent work at South Hill.
