Unfortunately, this month we lost Monica Joy Trudgeon of St. Michael’s, Caerhays and Peter Paterson of St. Andrew’s, Calstock. Monica was devoted to St. Michael’s and a one-time ringer. Peter was a former ringer and long-time supporter of Calstock in many ways. RIP both.
Sarah and I attended the Central District AGM at Kenwyn with ringing beforehand at St. Erme and St. Clement. There were a few changes in the District officers with Ian Young standing down and Matthew Rodliffe being elected as Standing Committee Rep. Many thanks Ian for all your work.
A Quarter Peal of Grandsire Doubles was rung at Launcells in memory of Chas Seamons. Chas and his daughter Rachael first rang there in the 1980s whilst holidaying at Crackington Haven, returning there for several years and always receiving a warm welcome.
Saturday 15th March saw lots going on! The Youth were in action at Bodmin with Jack a new TDGR member and his grandad Ernie attending for the first time. Great to see them. I then travelled to the Northern District for their AGM at St. Tudy where several new members were elected. As intimated last year, Robert Corney did not seek re-election as Ringing Master so I would like to take this opportunity of thanking him for all his many years of service in the role, as well as his service for the Guild and his continuing support for local Cornish ringing.
Following on from this 4 Northern district members, accompanied by the District Chairman and myself, went to Lanteglos-by-Camelford to mark Robert’s service to the Guild by ringing a very well struck Call Change Peal. Meanwhile, at St. Columb, Matthew Rodliffe was scoring his 100th Quarter Peal prior to the “hurling”.
On the 29th March the Eastern District held their AGM at Liskeard. There was a good attendance with members from the Northern and Central areas coming along too. Most officers remained the same but the meeting did agree to the instigation of a Deputy Ringing Master to form some kind of succession planning for the future. Chris Beckett was duly elected to the role.
Also on the 29th, Claire Below rang her first Full Peal at Kenwyn remembering the late Norman Mattingley. Very well done Claire.

The final District AGM is still to come – Western on Saturday 26th April at Towednack.
Keep ringing!
