The Northern Improvers took place on an absolutely glorious day at Tintagel – a really good attendance with lots of members from different towers well represented.
The following day I went over to Pillaton to Steward in the belfry at their Heritage Open Day. Many visitors, well over 60, ascended the tower to see the bells and look out at the beautiful view from the roof.
Our acting Education Officer Jemma is getting around the towers and posting regular updates which is great to see – watch out your tower may be next!
Jo T, acting PRO, and I have been formulating some Recruitment & Retention Workshops which will be delivered in each of our 4 Districts. When the dates are announced in your area please do come along.
I was asked to judge the Devon Association of Ringers 8-bell competition at East Budleigh on the 16th September where 5 teams contested for the trophy and Kingsteignton were triumphant with 19.25 faults.
The Facebook page Bellringing in Cornwall featured a lovely post from Judith Raven about Ashley Jose who has been ringing at Perranzabuloe for over 80 years! Brilliant achievement Ashley.
The 23rd September was, to say the least, a busy day. First a sports massage followed by a shower then dropping off some stays before popping down to Hayley to pick up certificates and then attending the Western District Festival. Ringing at St. Anthony, Manaccan and St. Keverne, four new members were duly elected and I was chuffed to be able to present the certificates. An excellent tea was provided in the Church Hall and I chatted to many of the members in the West. In the hotel reception I helped to administer some First Aid before having a cracking evening out with great friends. The following day I drove home after Service ringing and then did some long awaited work on a friend’s car – no rest for the wicked!
Keep ringing!
